Conociendo El Hierro

La isla de El Hierro es  la más alejada del archipiélago canario y la más joven, lugar remoto que hoy día, aunque mejor comunicada, sigue considerado un lugar distante. Es la isla menos conocida y menos visitada de Canarias.

Esta pequeña isla , todavía en proceso de formación, nació hace aproximadamente un millón de años debido a la actividad volcánica, La última gran erupción fue en 1973 en Lomo Negro en Playa Verodal, y la más reciente fue una llamativa erupción submarina al Suroeste de la isla el 10 de octubre de 2011. Siendo las isla mas occidental y meridional de las islas canarias con una superficie de 278 kilómetros cuadrados, estando localizado el punto más alto en Malpaso a 1501 metros sobre el nivel del mar y encontrandose su capital, Valverde, en el noroeste.

Llama especialmente la atención  la formación de la isla, donde las erupciones en su fase juvenil son tan intensas que la isla crece muy rápido en esta fase,  superando el límite de estabilidad del edificio insular y colapsa.

El colapso se traduce en un desplome gigante de material, un megadeslizamiento gracias al cual la isla recupera el equilibrio. Un vivo ejemplo, quizás el más llamativo es el del valle del Golfo.

Es una isla que no te dejará indiferente por la belleza y singularidad de sus paisajes,  es un lugar sin igual, donde podemos encontrar desde los bosques prehistóricos de laurisilva, pasando por los incombustibles  pinos canarios, a las caprichosas formas de  las sabinas, hasta  los más pintorescos paisajes volcánicos. Por tanto no es de extrañar que el. 60 por ciento de su superficie esté protegido,  siendo declarada en su totalidad Reserva de la Biosfera en el año 2000.

Es un lugar alejado del consumismo y reñida con los centros comerciales, es para vivir en armonía con la naturaleza, donde todos tus sentidos parecen despertar y alejarte de las tensiones cotidianas, donde sus habitantes contribuyen a ello con su amabilidad y cariño, animándote a que los visites para que aprecies todos sus tesoros naturales realizando submarinismo, parapente, senderismo o simplemente disfrutando de su gastronomía y cultura tradicional.

Hemos diseñado una serie de rutas y lugares de interés que te orientarán en un primer momento y te mostrarán las distintas alternativas que puedes realizar  durante tu estancia en la isla para que tu viaje sea lo  más ilustrativo posible. Y puedas disfrutar de todos sus encantos, visitando los muchos rincones que esconde la isla.

Lugar único, donde al igual que los primeros canarios obtenían el agua a través de la destilación del árbol sagrado del Garoé  por influencia del alisio, hoy día obtienen la energía suficiente para alimentar sus hogares también por influencia de la fuerza con que el alisio es capaz de mover los aerogeneradores de Gorona del viento. Contribuyendo así a abastecer el 100% de energía renovable a todos los habitantes de la isla.

                                      

Una isla llena de historia, donde narramos de forma simbólica los principales acontecimientos acaecidos tras su conquista, donde el hombre es el principal protagonista,  aprovechando  los pocos recursos con los que contaba y como poco a poco ha ido construyendo el paisaje  agrícola y ganadero, a través de una imponente red de senderos en la difícil orografía que caracteriza la isla.

Knowing El Hierro

The island of El Hierro is the furthest from the Canary Islands and the youngest, remote place today, although better communicated, is considered a distant place. It is the least known and least visited of the Canary Islands.

This small island, still in training, was born about a million years ago due to volcanic activity, The last major eruption was in 1973 in Lomo Black in Playa Verodal, and the most recent was a striking eruption underwater to Southwest island on October 10, 2011. being the westernmost and southernmost island of the Canary islands with an area of 278 km ² , the highest point being located in Malpaso to 1,501 meters above sea level and meeting its capital, Valverde, in the northeast.
